Guys: Awesome episode!! great to hear about the future. just like to add a political dimenson caus jeremy mentioned it as a sidemark: whats happens with all those people who loose their jobs due to automation?
do you think, that left politicians like sanders, “die linke” guys, sp guys or corbyn miss the point of the digital revolution? could you imaginge, that all those new technical achievments could be sold as oppurtunities in order to create new jobs or to modify working life with concepts like the unconditional basic income?
my thesis is, that because the left is not aware or afraid of the digital revolution, right wingers gain more and more populatrity. i guess thats not the only reason but maybe one if them (just forget about capitalism when you speculate about it for a sec). Do you guys have other ideas just like jeremy mentioned in a funny way : crusing busses through the city via internet for jobless guys….?
hope that makes some sense to you. if not, dont worry, guess its hard for me to write about it in a comment post. cheers! flo
Thanks for the praise! 🙂
My perception is that the left is aware of it — maybe not all of them — and discussing it.
I think something like the Basic Income will come, in one way or another. I’ve read recenlty about the “Automatisierungsdividende”, which is a tax on robots that replace humans, here’s an article on it: http://www.faz.net/aktuell/feuilleton/debatten/automatisierungsdividende-fuer-alle-roboter-muessen-unsere-rente-sichern-11754772.html
We’ve also talked about a book on automation in a past episode: “Arbeitsfrei: Eine Entdeckungsreise zu den Maschinen, die uns ersetzen” https://www.amazon.de/Arbeitsfrei-Eine-Entdeckungsreise-Maschinen-ersetzen/dp/3570501558
Thanks for the article. Love terms like “Pro-Automatisierungsgrundkonsens” .
Super topics, super Jeremy, super podcast, super geil!
I highly enjoyed this episode, thanks for that!
By the way, i love when the Muskimum doesn’t get too short, Elon has to be aknowledged! 🙂
You are gonna hear more from me soon;)
